Believe what you want, it doesn’t mean you’re right
I often allow myself to be distracted by relatively unimportant things, and these pleasurable time sinks can prevent me from getting important stuff done. I have to keep reminding myself what I have decided is important and what’s not so important to me, and remembering those priorities so I can make informed choices.
Sometimes that seems like a bit of a drag at the time, but as I accomplish more of the things I consider important I feel the effort and denial has a payback. An unexpected benefit to me was that this forces me to make explicit and revisit my priorities, making my first tentative steps towards examining my life.
