I have been experiencing intermittent problems with the controls on the earphones on my iPhone recently, and had been envisioning all kinds of grim technological disaster. After a quick trip to the Apple store in Toronto the culprit was found to be lint in the headphone socket.

Once again I should have checked the obvious before worrying about the unlikely – there are so many other areas in life where I wish I could remember that!
